About Us
The main activity of GWORX FOURTEEN (PTY) LTD is the manufacture of SABS approved pole products. Other activities comprise cilviculture and harvesting operations primarily to maximise consistent volumes of timber raw materials.
The company trades as G-WORX FOREST PRODUCTS and is located at Highbury Industrial Estate in the town of Mthatha in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa.
Usage
The pole products are used for the Electricity and Telephone Transmission, Fencing, Vineyard and Building industries.
Production Facilities
The production facilities are designed and laid out to combine steam heat, vacuum and pressure technologies.
SABS quality assurance
The SABS quality assurance system entails harvesting selected species, grading to sizes, air-drying and kiln-drying, laboratory testing of chemical concentration, chemical impregnation in pressurised vessels at predetermined temperatures to specific chemical penetration and retention.
SABS Approved and CREO Treated Poles
The company’s treating processes consist of chemically impregnating dry timber with either CCA or creosote chemical products that conform to SABS specifications. The treating process also follows and conforms to SABS specified guidelines and procedures.
SABS compliance audit inspections are randomly conducted monthly to verify quality control and procedures.
Sustainable jobs and sustainable cultivation
The main component of raw materials is selected species of eucalyptus that are harvested from various plantations throughout the Eastern Cape. Harvesting is conducted by means of mechanical equipment and trained labour. Harvesting is also labour intensive and provides permanent employment and creates jobs within various communities in which it operates from time to time.
The company prides itself of high standards of cilviculture practises and has over the years accumulated critical skills and know-how for pruning, coppicing and cleaning of compartments for optimal yield and regeneration of planted trees.
